Monti boys golf improves to 8-2

WEST POINT -- With a 253-317 win over O'Neill on Tuesday, the Monticello Varsity Boys' Golf record now stands at 8-2 (6-0 OCIAA).

Joseph Russo shot an impressive 42, followed by Jacob Kaplan, Adam Cavello, Dylan Price, Max Baum and Owen Bassett who shot 50, 51, 54, 56 and 58 respectively.

Liberty handles Manor

In a contest held at Swan Lake Golf and Country Club, the Indians battled the Wildcats on Monday. Liberty went on to win 276-355. Quintin Herzog, Chase Racette and Lawrence Whipple posted the top scores for Liberty, shooting 48, 50 and 52 respectively. Manor/Roscoe was led by Wesley Kinne who shot 68.

Liberty went on to defeat SW on Wednesday to the tune of 260-314, improving to 6-1. Herzog, Whipple and Racette shot 43, 50 and 53 respectively. SW's Liam Pereira-Mendoza had the best day for his team on the course, shooting 58, while teammate Matthew Gattus shot 63.

Girls Golf

Lady Bulldogs defeat Manor

Gabby Cohen and Abby Parucki both shot 48 in a home match at the Villa Roma on Monday as SW beat Manor 155-185. SW's Taylor Allen shot 57 for SW, while Manor's Maggie Ross, and Sara and Caitlin Evans shot 61, 61 and 63 respectively.

Track and Field

Furman boys compete in Cornwall

Adam and Van Furman, members of the Tri-Valley Boys Varsity Track and Field team, took part in the Cornwall Steeplefest earlier this week. Adam took fourth place in the boys 3000m steeplechase at 9:44.88 while younger brother Van finished 19th at 11:08.47.

Baseball

Panthers dominate Comets

In a non-league contest at Monticello High School, the Panthers beat the Fallsburg Comets, 18-2, on Tuesday. Monticello jumped out to a commanding 7-0 lead earlier before slowly putting the game out of reach. Matt Sanchez pitched four innings for the home team, striking out seven batters. Brandon McGar and Tommy Merton had 3 RBIs and 2 RBIs respectively for Monticello.
