Monticello Raceway hosts Veteran's Pantry harness races

The Monticello Raceway is gearing up to host this year’s Veterans Driving Challenge. Set for Wednesday, November 10, these races will be a competition of former servicemen/women who are also licensed harness drivers. According to Director & Program Administrator Kathy Kreiter, monies raised from the event will be donated to the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless Veterans Pantry.

Efforts by North American Amateur Driver’s Association (NAADA) and the Catskill Amateur Driver’s Club (CADC) to present races for US armed forces veterans are coming to fruition according to NAADA vice president, Alan Schwartz.

The Veterans Driving Challenge is open to former servicemen/women who are also harness drivers licensed by the USTA and/or the Canadian Trotting Association. If you have served in any of the armed forces and possess either an A or P harness license, you are qualified to compete in this very worthy cause. Any eligible armed forces veteran interested in competing in the race(s) is urged to contact Alan Schwartz at 845-791-7747 or Monticello Raceway's Director of Racing, Eric Warner at 845-794-4100 x557.

For more information regarding the Federation Veteran’s pantry or any of their other critical services, please call Kathy Kreiter at (845) 794-2604 or email scfh@hvc.rr.com
