Monticello Raceway welcomes back in-person fans

MONTICELLO — They're off to the races. Resorts World Catskills (RWC) announced in a press release on Tuesday that its sister property, Monticello Raceway, will once again welcome horse racing fans beginning on Wednesday, June 2.

The pandemic forced the closure of the track in mid-March of last year. It reopened without fans in September. While it was closed to patrons, the Raceway served as one of 14 pop-up community vaccination sites set up by the State.

“This is another day that we're excited to put on the calendar, and it marks yet another step forward in New York's recovery,” said Meghan Taylor, Vice President Government Affairs and Public Relations, Resorts World Catskills & Resorts World New York City. “We can't wait to welcome patrons back during live racing days, especially in the week leading up to the final leg of the Triple Crown on Saturday, the Super Bowl for horse racing fans.”

Post time each day is 12:50 p.m. The Simulcasting Room is expected to reopen to customers in a few weeks.

Social distancing and other Covid-19 safety measures will be enforced.
