Posted

On Thursday evening (7:32 p.m.) the Rock Hill Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire on Old Sackett Road (see pictured). Units were on scene in less than five minutes and found a large residential structure with heavy fire showing. Rock Hill firefighters initialized an aggressive interior attack, however water supply quickly became an issue due to the lack of water in the area. Firefighters were forced to go defensive until a good water supply was established. Units were on the scene until approximately 2 a.m. Friday morning.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Sullivan County Fire Investigators as well as the NYS Office of Fire Prevention and Control. Rock Hill was assisted by the Monticello FD, Woodridge FD, Town of Bethel FAST team, Mountaindale FD, Wurtsboro FD, Liberty FD, Forestburgh Fire Co., Kauneonga Lake FD, White Lake FD, Westbrookville Fire Co., Silver Lake (Orange County) FD, Sullivan County Bureau of Fire, NY State Fire, and Rock Hill and Mobilemedic EMS. On standby were the Lake Huntington, Hurleyville and Fallsburg FDs. No injuries were reported.
