SULLIVAN COUNTY – Multiple fire departments and emergency response agencies from across Sullivan County and others were dispatched to a structure fire in Lumberland on Friday, July 29.
The structure fire in Lumberland at 608 High Road, a three story apartment building, began on Friday at 12:28 pm, to which multiple fire departments from Sullivan, Orange, and Pike counties were dispatched for on-site assistance and coverage.
The Bethel and Thompson FAST teams were dispatched to the scene alongside Lumberland, Yulan, Highland Lake, Shohola, Sparrowbush, Port Jervis, Huguenot, Matamoris and Westfall fire departments.
The town of Highland and Port Jervis ambulance services were on-site, alongside the Sullivan County Rehab Team.
Lumberland Fire Chief Eric Robles confirmed that one firefighter suffered a minor injury but has already since recovered. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
Shortly after the fire began, a separate alarm was called in Lumberland for another structure fire at 1117 County Route 31. However, it was confirmed to be a false alarm, as it was reported that smoke from the previous fire traveled and appeared in another location.
