Narrowsburg shooting leaves 24-year-old dead

NARROWSBURG — New York State Police troopers responded to a residence on Lake Country Lane in Narrowsburg on Saturday at approximately 12:20 p.m. where 24-year-old Anthony Williams was allegedly found with a gunshot wound.

The Fremont resident succumbed to his injuries while responding EMS personnel were attempting life-saving measures.

According to New York State Police, John Rhodes, 81, is charged with Murder 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, both felonies.

The State Police Bureau of Investigation (BCI) Liberty is investigating the homicide.

Police say they do not know the relationship between the two men or whether or not they knew each other.

No further details were available as of presstime on Thursday and the investigation is ongoing.

Rhodes was arraigned in the Town of Tusten Court in front of Town Judge Klu Padu and remanded to Sullivan County Jail without bail.

State police were assisted by the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office and the Sullivan County District Attorney's Office.
