Neighbors do each other favors

Was thinking the other day how lucky we were to have good neighbors.

Remember growing up in my teenage years in the Village of Liberty and my mother always going to the next door neighbor and borrowing this and that and the neighbors doing the same with us.

This points out how in those years that you probably grew up knowing your neighbors but today there tends to be less communications and friendships between neighbors.

Thank God I have good neighbors…I mean really good neighbors. A ride downtown to the grocery store, pickup mail from the post office, borrow a couple of eggs, you name it and we do the same for them without ever asking a question.

When going on vacation my neighbor gladly watches my house, both inside and outside and even waters the house plants. Good neighbors are built-in helpers and at times neighbors become endless resources especially with talents when it comes to fixing or repairing something.

A close friend of mine who lives in Florida said they have a neighbor who is an Emergency Room (ER) doctor who told my friend to call if they ever have an emergency and the doctor said he would assess the situation and let them know if he recommends an ER…now that’s a pretty good neighbor.

Over the years my neighbors have become a great source for referrals so we don’t get ripped off.

Good neighbors borrow things from us and we do the same with them…that’s when you believe and trust your neighbors.

My neighbors and I watch out for each other and if you consider a neighborhood with a strong sense of community your homeowner’s insurance should be lower with a strong good neighbor policy.

Love your neighbors.
