Nicholas Bill Huffman, of Dutchess County, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the Veterans Hospital in Montrose, NY, at the age of 74. He would often say that was just “bubble gum,” reflecting his lighthearted spirit and sense of humor.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, on November 24, 1950, Nicholas served his country with honor in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, from November 18, 1969, to April 1, 1971. He proudly served two secret tours in the 82nd and 173rd Airborne Division as a paratrooper, an experience that shaped much of his life and left him with a deep sense of camaraderie and pride in his service.

Nicholas had a lifelong passion for art, music, and science, finding solace and inspiration in these pursuits. Whether sketching, listening to his favorite tunes, or delving into the mysteries of the natural world, his creative spirit and intellectual curiosity were a defining part of who he was.

Nicholas is survived by his three daughters; Christine Huffman of Rancho Cordova, CA; Rachael Ford of Middletown, NY; and Alyson Huffman of Bergenfield, NJ, two grandchildren, Benjamin and Olivia Ford, who brought him immense joy as well as his siblings: Robert Sellars, Thomas Sellars, Maria Sellars, Lynnie Torrento, and Harry Huffman.

His mother Juditta Ann Palmiotta; his father, Edward Kenneth Huffman; and his brothers, Edward Huffman Jr. and Neil Huffman, predeceased Nicholas.

A celebration of life was held Sunday, January 26 at 92 Pine St., Wurtsboro, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to support veterans and their families.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cremation Society of NJ, 470 Colfax Ave, Clifton, NJ 07013.
