Mr. Dittmer opened my eyes (with his letter, June 7) to the simplicity of it all. Assault weapons sold to any 18-year-old are A. O. K. Abortions, even for a 35-year-old, are not. Laws should not control guns. But they can control pregnancies. Thank you Mr. Dittmer. Now I remember why I am a Democrat.

I think Mr. Dittmer’s point is that current gun laws, like our current immigration laws, are so unenforced, they are as ineffectual in controlling gun crimes as immigration laws are in controlling illegal immigration. So, what’s the point of passing more gun laws other than as a symbolic pretense?

KGH: The most important part of the 2nd Amendment and any right is 'for the people' hence the part you leave off ' the RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED'!
Also to inform you 'SHALL' means Required / Mandatory. Too bad all this time that certain group of people don't understand this.
And just who makes up the Militia and etc, THE PEOPLE thats who, the People with the Right!
Your phrases are secondary to the People's Right!

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) identified a total of 165 armed militia groups within the United States.

LHFC: Thank you for that information. I did search that before I asked my question. First question,: Do you realize that the 160+ MILITIAS tracked by the SPLC are anti government, racist and hate groups (aka Proud Boys, Oath Keepers among others)?
Second Question: Did the July 4th Shooter have the the "right to keep and bear arms:?
