One dead in glider crash

WURTSBORO — On Sunday, June 6 at approximately 2:25 p.m., state police from the Wurtsboro barracks responded to Wurtsboro Airport for a report of a downed glider. An initial investigation revealed that a glider operated by Khanh H. Nguyen, age 64 of Tenafly, NJ crashed on the tarmac and skidded off the runway. Arriving troopers immediatley began life-saving measures. Wurtsboro Fire, MobileMedic EMS and Mamakating EMS arrived and took over life-saving measures. Nguyen was transported by Helo MedEvac to Westchester Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. According to State Police, the Federal Aviation Administration was notified and responded to the scene.
