Peter M. Stettner of White Sulphur Springs, NY, a retired Principal for Sullivan County BOCES and a longtime area resident died Monday, January 25, 2021 at his home. He was 86.

The son of the late Alfred and Ruschullel Leupold Stettner, he was born December 27, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY.

Peter was able to name his oldest daughter after himself. He grew up in Manhattan but loved the country. He bought 48 ¾ acres in White Sulphur Springs and enjoyed working on the land. He was a guidance counselor and then the Principal of Vocational Services at Sullivan County BOCES. His love of education expanded to all. He worked with New York State Education Dept. representing BOCES not only in Sullivan County but for all BOCES in the State. He was a devoted husband for over 60 years, a loving father and uncle. Peter served his Country as an MP in Germany from 1952 to 1956. His family, many nieces, nephews and friends will love him forever in their hearts.

Survivors include his wife, Liliam B. Ehrhorn Stettner; his eldest daughter, Maria and her husband Bob Nutt, Liam and Mara(children); Heidi(daughter) and Rick Askin, Keefe and Jarret; Mark (son) and Chenyun Stettner(wife), Stephany and Steven(children) Ingrid Stettner and children, Brendan and Averil; Derek Stettner and Angie Zsakovicz (partner), Natelie and Ethan, Brianne, Kayla and Zachary(children); Monica Hinton and her children, Lindsey, Michael and Chelsea; Renay Crespo and Charlie, Roger, Rosie, Charlie (posthumus), and four grandchildren; Kelly Rosiac and John; and son.

Memorial visitation will be Saturday, August 6, from 1 PM to 3 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.  A memorial service will begin at 2:30 PM in the funeral home.  The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.

Memorial contributions in Peter’s name may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
