Did you know that December is National Pear Month? This is one of the many fun facts you can learn at your library. It's also Safe Toys and Gifts month, and we can help you with that. Visit your library's website and go to their free Consumer Reports database to research products before you make that big purchase. Is one of your New Year's resolutions to learn a new language? Your library gives you free access to Rosetta Stone Library Solutions where you can choose from over two dozen languages to learn. This is the perfect time to start exploring all of the resources available at your local public library.

With tax season rapidly approaching, some libraries will have copies of federal and state tax forms available for you. If you need to apply for any of the services the county offers, we have public computers and free wifi so you can access and complete the applications you need. We can also scan, copy, and fax. For live help with your resume, interview and job skills, each library can give you access to Brainfuse's JobsNow services. Public libraries are preparing for the 2020 Census now and will have secure computers available for you to complete the Census questionnaire online for the first time.

Many libraries have local history collections in their buildings, access to historic newspapers online, and genealogy tools to at your fingertips. Visit any of the branches of the Western Sullivan Public Library for access to Ancestry Library Edition providing a wide range of resources for genealogical and historical research, including images of the decennial U.S. census from 1790-1930, passenger lists, military records, court, land & probate records, birth, marriage & death records, church records and more.

Your libraries have current newspapers, magazines in-house and online, and of course, thousands of books, DVDs, audiobooks, ebooks, films you can stream, and so much more.

Call us, email us, visit us...our library staff is the greatest resource. Ask them for a rare book and they will hunt it down; need help downloading your plane tickets, we can print them for you; looking for an obituary for a long lost relative from the area, we'll look it up; need to print a part on a 3D printer, we've got you covered.

There is so much to learn and so much information out there. Let us help you find what you are looking for. And in case you were wondering, National Bacon Day is on December 30th. We may not have bacon at our libraries, but can definitely direct you to all of the local eateries that do.
