LIBERTY – Due to copyright issues that have recently arisen, the Liberty Central School District’s new RedHawk logo has been discontinued from use effective immediately. It was unveiled to the public just a month ago.
According to an email sent out and addressed to the Liberty community by Liberty Central’s Superintendent Dr. Patrick Sullivan, the school district is currently in the process of removing all discontinued logos from any district-owned properties.
These would include flags, banners, sports jerseys, signs and more. The Superintendent also noted that all sales of merchandise containing the discontinued logo have been halted.
“We are currently exploring our options, and in the meantime we will use the Block L logo we had used previously,” Sullivan said.
This copyright issue comes after months of waiting on a new logo following the recent removal of the long-time “Indian” moniker in compliance with New York State law.
The Democrat reached out to the Liberty Central School District for further comment but did not hear back by presstime.
