WURTSBORO - Please join us for Meet the Artist: How to Make a Mural to be held on Saturday, November 6 at 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. held at the Mamakating Environmental Education Center, 762 South Road, Wurtsboro. Cost for this program is $5/person $15 family cap. Please call to register.

Meet artist, Kevin O'Neill, in this first of three programs centered around the production of our future Bashakill Wetland Mural. Kevin will discuss how a mural is made and allow you to experiment with the process. This is a family program geared toward fostering creativity and a sense of place.

Kevin is a long-time professional artist who works in both traditional and digital media. He teaches illustration and graphic design at Marywood University, and works as a staff artist at The Times-Tribune newspaper, both in Scranton, PA. He also does freelance commission work. He has an MFA in graphic design and a BFA in illustration. He lives with his wife and son, and two cats, in a little slice of lake-front heaven at Chapman Lake in Scott Township, PA. He takes inspiration from nature and loves creating images and sculptures of the animals we share the world with.

MEEC director Jackie Broder and Friends of MEEC express their gratitude to the utility companies Orange & Rockland / Con Edison for fully funding the mural. MEEC is a community center which supports local history and environmental education. Call (845) 644-5014 for more info and to register.
