MONTICELLO — Resorts World welcomed the Year of the Rabbit with celebrations at Resorts World Catskills (RWC) and Resorts World Hudson Valley (RWHV) on Sunday, January 29. RWC also served as one of the sponsors of the “Celebration of Chinese New Year” that took place at the Mount Hope Youth Center in Otisville.

A team from the Wan Chi Ming Hung Gar Institute performed Lion Dance ceremonies at both casinos. The RWHV event took place inside the casino near the Resorts World Bet Sports Bar.

The RWC celebration was held in the casino’s main lobby. Robert DeSalvio, President, Genting Americas East, Peter Chan, VP of International Marketing, Resorts World Catskills, and other executives from RWC participated in an eye dotting ceremony to protect and bless the property in preparation for the lion dance. The “lions” made several stops, including the front desk, Genting Rewards Players Club, the cashier, and the casino’s restaurants. Red envelopes were distributed to the performers at the conclusion of the ceremony. Wrapping money in red envelopes is expected to bring happiness and blessings on the receivers.

“Since opening five years ago, we have been committed to fostering strong multicultural relationships with visitors from all over the world,” said Peter Chan, VP of International Marketing, Resorts World Catskills. “The Lunar New Year offers the perfect opportunity to showcase our many amenities and services that provide an authentic Asian cultural and gaming experience. We wish our guests a year filled with peace and prosperity.”
