GRAHAMSVILLE — The last weekend in March saw the vandalism of one of Sullivan County Sheriff Mike Schiff’s signs for the upcoming 2025 primary election.
Slathered in black paint, the sign is located along Route 55 heading southeast into Grahamsville.
“It is unfortunate when something like this happens during an election,” the incumbent up for reelection told the Democrat. “We are investigating and we will see what turns up and if we can find any leads.”
His challenger in the Republican Primary, Tim Dymond, condemned the vandalism last Tuesday, suggesting that the person responsible “should be arrested and face the consequences of their actions.”
“With modern technology [including] door cameras/electronic surveillance, these cases are solved regularly, and I’d gladly help investigate this crime,” Dymond stated.
Sheriff Schiff emphasized the need for an investigation into the incident before anything else as the first step into finding the offender.
He stresses that baseless finger pointing and jumping to conclusions on who might have done it can lead to unnecessary trouble and hassle.
