Setting A New Pace

I had been going for physical therapy to alleviate my pinched nerve when I felt a little dizzy during one of my sessions. The therapist thought I should make an appointment with my cardiologist.

Dr. Landzberg had me wear a monitor for 24 hours and I got a call from his affiliate the day after I dropped it off. He said I should immediately see Dr. Jonathan Steinberg. That night I got a call from Dr. Landzberg giving me more details. It seems my heart actually stops for five seconds off and on throughout the 24 hour period.

He said I will likely be advised to get a pacemaker. Getting an appointment with Dr. Steinberg right away turned out to be a problem so Landzberg recommended another specialist who could see me this week.

My physical therapy has been put on hold in the meantime. Fortunately I've known quite a few people who have a pacemaker with no problems. I was having some success with the physical therapy but sometimes we have to sacrifice one improvement to accommodate another.

My daughter has been researching the recovery time after getting a pacemaker and the results are a full spectrum from being able to return to work in a few days to resting for a few weeks.

Because of my age, which will be 86 next month, I'm sure that my recovery will be at a slower rate than some. So wish me luck everyone.
