Shirley A. Schumacher, a longtime Beechwoods resident, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022. She was 86.

The daughter of the late Arthur and Lavada Bauernfeind, she was born on September 30, 1935, in Callicoon, NY.

Shirley loved baking for family, friends and herself. She always had a batch of her famous fudge on hand. She also enjoyed watching game shows, admiring cardinals out of her picture window and was an avid pet lover. She always had a rescue dog by her side.

Her survivors include her daughter, Dawn (John) Sander, her two grandchildren, David (Jacqui) Sander and Calley (Kevin) Erlwein, and her four great-grandchildren, Nora, Evelyn, Phoebe and Jack, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, August Schumacher, her son Dale Schumacher and her brother Stan Bauernfeind.

Funeral services will be held at the Bauernfeind Cemetery in Callicoon, NY at 1pm on Thursday the 13th of January, 2022. In lieu of flowers, to honor one of her favorite things in life, please send donations to your local SPCA in memory of Shirley.
