To the editor:
They came one and all from all walks of life
from near and far, men and women alike
they were all willing and able to answer the call
they were issued a uniform that fateful day
and promise to defend in every way
they proudly marched down the street on a summer day
shoulder to shoulder so straight and so tall
each one so pristine in every way
some were stationed stateside, other sent far away
no matter the year, rank, conflict great or small
far too many gave their all
the blood that was shed, the countless tears
has not been forgotten over the years
the young ones they come from near and far
from all walks of life, men and women alike
all willing and able to answer the call
they accept that uniform that very day
and promise to defend in every way
they marched down the street the other day
shoulder to shoulder so stright and so tall
each one so pristine in every way
each willing and able to answer the call
some will be stationed stateside, many sent far away
no matter the year, rank, conflict great or small
far too many will give their all
the blood to be shed, the countless tears
will not be forgotten in future years
So as we say our prayers each day
pray their protection in every way
As we raise the red, white and blue to each Veteran, a heartfelt thank you!
The emblem you wear apon your chest
shows you all gave your very best.
A special place in our hearts there will always be
for the far to many who gave their all
so that we would always remain free.
