Showcasing the Sullivan Catskills to the World

As October comes to a close, the Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association (SCVA) continues to make strides in promoting our beautiful region to a national audience. Tourism is the economic backbone of the Sullivan Catskills, driving business growth, job creation, and community development. There are numerous ways we aim to elevate the area’s profile, connecting with professionals and visitors who can bring long-term value to the region.

This month, the SCVA team is proud to attend Destination East by Northstar in Niagara Falls. Destination East is the premier hosted-buyer event for qualified meetings and incentive professionals sourcing programs in the Eastern U.S. It’s an exceptional opportunity to network with decision-makers who plan meetings, conferences, and retreats. The event features representatives from destinations, hotels, DMCs (destination management companies), technology providers, and other service industries that are key to the meetings and incentives market.

Our presence at Destination East allows us to highlight the Sullivan Catskills as an ideal location for corporate retreats, team-building experiences, and incentive travel. With our pristine natural settings, state-of-the-art event venues, and exceptional hospitality services, the Sullivan Catskills is an unmatched destination for any type of corporate gathering.

The SCVA was thrilled to welcome a group of travel writers this month from all different outlets including Travel and Leisure, Dossier, Bon Appetit, Thrillist, VinePair and The New York Times. These writers, covering a range of topics from luxury travel to food and cuisine, will be sharing their experiences with readers across the nation, driving further interest in the magic of our area.

Looking ahead, there is no shortage of events and activities to enjoy this fall season in the Sullivan Catskills. That includes Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, which will commence at the end of the month from October 28th-November 10th, and is set to be a fantastic showcase of the region’s culinary talent. This week serves as a golden opportunity to sample a diverse range of dishes at some of the finest dining spots, often at a fraction of the regular price. Participating restaurants offer prix-fixe lunch and dinner menus, which typically highlight local ingredients and showcase the creativity of regional chefs. For 2024, several standout establishments in Sullivan County are taking part including Blue Fox Motel, Cellaio, Kenoza Hall, Lotus, Roscoe Mountain Club, Seminary Hill, The Arnold House, The DeBruce, Tavern on Main, The Heron, The Homestead, Tango Cafe, Pasta D’Oro, La Cigogne, Upward Brewing Company, Woodstock Way Groovy Eatery, Kevin’s Restaurant and Yasgur’s Farm Cafe. s

As we move into the heart of fall, the Sullivan Catskills continues to shine as a premier destination for both visitors and industry professionals. With exciting events like Hudson Valley Restaurant Week just around the corner and the invaluable connections we’re making at Destination East, our region is poised for continued growth and recognition. We look forward to welcoming even more visitors and showcasing all that our region has to offer in the months ahead.
