Spend your summer with the library!

During the summer months, public libraries across the country offer activities and programs to encourage children to read. This year is no different. Even with the pandemic, the library staff quickly developed a plan to modify their Summer Reading Programs for 2020 and find a way to connect with the children in our communities.

From interactive programs on Zoom and Facebook, to take-home crafts, kids can join in on the fun while keeping their reading skills up. Some libraries in Sullivan County are using the ReadSquared app to help kids track the books they are reading, complete challenges, and earn points to exchange for prizes. Visit your library's website or Facebook page for up-to-date information on how children can participate this year.

Curbside Pickup is available at many of the libraries so you can easily borrow books, audiobooks, and other materials for both your children and yourself. Access your library's online catalog or download the RCLS Gateway app on your mobile device and start requesting items.

You are always welcome to call or email us to request items from your library as well as items from other libraries in our region. Currently you can request items from the following regional libraries: Mamakating, Pine Bush, Cragsmoor, Ellenville, Grahamsville, Fallsburg, Monticello, Liberty, Roscoe, Livingston Manor, Eldred, and Western Sullivan (Callicoon, Jeffersonville, Narrowsburg).

At Western Sullivan Public Library we are offering two summer reading challenges for adults, along with our children's summer reading program.

Visit www.WSPLonline.org for more information. Visit your local library's website today and see how they can help fill all of your summer reading needs!
