LIBERTY –– On Tuesday, at approximately 9:50 a.m., state police responded to a two-car collision on State Route 55 in the Town of Liberty. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004 Toyota Camry, operated by Jake Eherts, 19 of Liberty was traveling east on State Route 55 left the roadway on the south shoulder and reenters the roadway and travels into the westbound lane with the passenger side of his vehicle facing oncoming traffic.

A 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Pick-Up truck was traveling west and was unable to avoid hitting the Camry. Jake Eherts was pronounced deceased at the scene. The occupants of the pick-up truck were both transported to Garnet Medical Center – Catskills with fractures and internal injuries.
