Summer programs return to The Janice Center

JEFFERSONVILLE - The Janice Center for Learning The Arts will be bringing back two of its popular summer programs starting at the end of June:

Music Together - After more than a year of dormancy due to COVID safety and health concerns, Music Together will be returning to our regular programming with a six-class Summer session beginning June 29.

Music Together has long been the flagship program at The Janice Center, starting hundreds of youngsters on the road to musical and social development. Since 2008, more than 900 children have experienced Music Together classes at The Janice Center. Many have gone on to play musical instruments and participate in dance classes with a more developed musical ear and sense of rhythm.

Music Together is a research-backed program that taps into a young child's musical instincts through specially-composed music, easy-to-use instruments and instructor/parent involvement. Through 45-minute classes, children ages 0-4 learn to sing in tune, keep a beat and participate with confidence in a group setting.

The Summer session will be conducted over three weeks, with two classes per week on Tuesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. starting June 29.

Registration forms are available by visiting www.janicecenter.com. You can also call 482-3324, text 423-8028 or e-mail ken@janicecenter. com if you are interested in enrolling for the Summer session.

Masks are optional for all attending children and vaccinated adults; masks are mandatory for all attending adults who are not fully vaccinated.

Music Lesson Series

The summer is actually an ideal opportunity for students to advance their musical pursuits. Free from the distractions and time constraints of the school year, students who take private lessons over the summer not only stay sharp, but improve at an accelerated rate.

They start the school year way ahead of those who do not touch an instrument for two months. The Janice Center offers lessons virtually in major instruments and our Summer Series is a 15% discount off our regular lesson rates. It is available to new students only.

Six lessons are included in the series at a total cost of $200. The instruments available are clarinet, drums, flute, guitar, piano, saxophone, trumpet, trombone (and other brass), as well as vocal. Lessons start now and go through August. Individual times will be arranged with the instructor.

Over the years, students taking private lessons at The Janice Center have achieved All County and Area All State recognition as well as perfect scores in NYSMMA and Piano Guild judging. Several of Janice Center students went on to study music in college and some have become professional musicians as well as music teachers.

To register for the Summer Music Lesson Series, call the Janice Center at 482-3324, text (845) 423-8028 or e-mail ken@janicecenter.com.

Also, The Janice Center's popular Stepping Tones Pre-School for 2021-22 has a few spots available. Call (845) 482-3324, text (845) 423-8028 or e-mail ken@janicecenter. com for more information.
