Community Resource Brochures displayed in new rack

Posted

ELDRED – Sunshine Hall Free Library has added a community resource display for information about civic, cultural, educational, commercial and recreational activities and locations of likely interest to the community.

Brochures about local businesses, organizations, services and tourism related activities are encouraged with a display rack placed near the library entrance. This is a joint project with the Greater Barryville Chamber of Commerce, which donated the brochure rack.

Brochures must be presented to the library director and meet library guidelines:

• All brochures must fit in the 4” x 9” holding spaces.

• The library reserves the right to refuse display materials that are awkward to display or take up disproportionate space.

• Nearer businesses and attractions have preference over those further away.

• Time sensitive events take preference over generic displays.

• All items must identify the group or person responsible for distribution, and provide a contact address or telephone number.

• No political party or candidate materials.

• No private events, such as yard sales, private parties or request for services.

• Library staff may discard brochures and pamphlets after a period of time, if they are outdated, worn or otherwise unpresentable.

• Organizations should restock their own brochures. The library does not store these materials.

• The library will relocate, rearrange and/or remove materials as it chooses.

• Display items must not be in violation of federal, state or local laws.

While Sunshine Hall Free Library would like to accommodate all requests of local organizations and businesses for display space, the volume of requests and the limited amount of space available may not make this possible.

Chartered in 1916, Sunshine Hall Free Library is a member of the Ramapo Catskill Library System (RCLS).  Library cards from all 47 libraries in the system may be used at any library. A free library card is available to anyone who lives in the towns of Highland or Lumberland with identification and proof of residency.  Non-residents may apply for a library card for a small fee.

For information, contact (845) 557-6258 or eld@rcls. org.
