LOCH SHELDRAKE –– The SUNY Sullivan annual youth basketball camp is returning July 18 until July 22. The camp runs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with an early drop off at 8:30 a.m. and a late pick up option Monday-Thursday until 4:00 p.m.

The first four days of the co-ed camp are full days, with a half day Friday, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and finishing up at 12:00 p.m.

The ages range from 7-17, and the fee is $175 per camper.

According to a brochure from the camp, “The Sullivan Generals Basketball Camp is committed to a philosophy of developing fundamental skills and a broad understanding of the game. The camp works to improve skills through individual instruction, drills, lectures and games.”

The camp focuses on leading campers to develop their own skills by covering the fundamentals on an individual and team level.

The Generals coaching staff teams up with area coaches and players to offer each camper the opportunity to learn the game, and counselors are encouraged to share personal drills, experience and knowledge of the game.

Campers receive a detailed evaluation of their progress, as well as drills to improve in their development after the camp ends.

Dan Clancy, who attended the camp before becoming a coach himself said, “The Sullivan basketball camp is a great learning experience for all ages of competitors. The camp is run by very knowledgeable people to help set the foundation of basketball skills for the younger generation.”

Clancy continued, “While I attended the camp, it was an amazing time and I still have friends from the camp years later.”
