To the editor:
I identity myself as James Ankin, owner/operator of Stepping Out Tours LLC and Callicoon Taxi Service. I’m the only transportation provider servicing the Western part of Sullivan County and Delaware County since 2007.
I transport people to Hancock and beyond, Callicoon, Narrowsburg and Honesdale, PA. In addition I’m on call 24/7/365 for Callicoon Regional Medical Center delivering blood specimens to Harris Labs for over 15 years.
I whole heartedly support the Catskill Explorer’s efforts to bring back a commuter rail to the area. Our area is growing leaps and bounds bringing jobs, vacationers, new businesses and prestige to our area.
With the loss of the Shortline Bus Service to the local towns, and Greyhound to the hubs of Monticello, getting around is quite difficult. Local taxi service picks up the slack.
Pioneers like myself, Irene Nickolai, Patti Morehead and others want to realize the dreams of prosperity for a better life and future here in Callicoon and elsewhere.
