LIBERTY — In the interest of creating a four-way stop at the intersection of Twin Bridge Road and Old Monticello Road, Local Law number 4 of 2024 which if passed would do just that was introduced before the Town Board on August 5.
Hefty discussion on the topic at the previous town board meeting last month led to the decision to follow through with the legislation. A public hearing for the local law has been set for August 19 at 6:45 p.m.
As there are already stop signs on Twin Bridge, this would add stop signs for Old Monticello. According to Town Supervisor Frank DeMayo, these stop signs are necessary as there have “been quite a few accidents” as with “people blowing through the stop sign.”
“We are trying to make the safety there more substantial,” said DeMayo.
