HONESDALE, PA — Tanya Gibbs-Hinkley announces her candidacy for Wayne Highlands School District School Board for the May 16th Primary Election. Hinkley is running for a four-year term on the Board for Region 1, and has cross-filed.

Having graduated from Wayne Highlands School District, and watching her four adult children graduate, and fifth currently attending Honesdale High School, Hinkley says, “I can say I cannot be more proud of the accomplishments afforded to students of our District.”

Her and husband Eric reside in Damascus Township and she has been a stay-at-home mom, allowing the opportunity to be a parent-volunteer for 20+ years. Hinkley has served on the PTA Executive Board for 18 years, with 4 years as Vice President, allowing her to work closely with teachers and administrators and to meet the needs of the students and staff.

“I am vested in our community through other volunteer activities such as being a 4-H Leader, Brownie/Girl Scout Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Preschool Teacher and currently Friends of Soccer Vice President. I have always been passionate about serving our children and the excellent school district that serves them,” said Hinkley.

Hinkley was appointed by the School Board to fill a vacancy for 6 months during 2021, and has completed the required Board training. “The experience I gained serving on the Board was invaluable, and I look forward to being an asset again to the students, teachers and taxpayers,” stated Hinkley.

Her platform rides on being passionate about our children’s education experience, and the impact it will make on them for life. Taking seriously the concerns of the taxpayers, especially making sure tax dollars are maximized and spent wisely. Being active and transparent, pushing for excellence and asking the tough questions and demand thorough answers, and will not support Critical Race Theory (CRT) being taught in our schools.

Hinkley is listed twice on the ballot due to cross filing. On the May 16th Primary ballot she is #2 for Republican and #3 for Democrat. You get one vote for school board. She humbly asks for those in her region for their support.

The candidate is available for anyone that has concerns and would like to share them with her. Please email Tanya at thinkley5@gmail.com. She is always available to listen.
