On behalf of the residents of Swan Lake, I would like to thank our wonderful postal clerk, Mary Hyzer, and her husband Fred, who spent a very hot Sunday cleaning the majority of the post office grounds. There were weeds growing through the sidewalks, branches laying everywhere, and wires hanging off the building.
Despite many attempts to have this situation rectified, nothing was done. Mary has tremendous responsibilities as the only worker in a very busy post office, sorting the mail and hundreds of packages, dealing with customers at the window, and keeping the inside of the post office looking neat. This was certainly going above and beyond. Those of us who care how our hamlet looks are indeed grateful.
Thank you to Karen Gorr, former postmaster of Grahamsville, a volunteer for CARE, Catskill Animal Rescue, who almost singlehandedly priced every item that was sold and helped make the yard sale such a huge success. Tamara DePaolo and Beret Nearing also put in countless hours!
The traffic circles and the triangle in Liberty look absolutely stunning and that is due to Joanne and Vince McPhillips, who do all the planting, weeding, and watering. What a nice entrance to Liberty!
Thank you to all of the above for improving our quality of life!
