The 1989 film, adapted from W.P. Kinsella’s 1982 novel Shoeless Joe, tells the story.

The Reds beat reporter wrote, “On a day filled with nostalgia about baseball and one very special movie, the Reds could’ve used an added sprinkle and mys- ticism from the cornfield....it was just about the only thing missing from the game they lost to the Cubs, 4-2 at the Field of Dreams site.”

One can tell that Baseball lives and is alive from talks I heard about the new stadium in the cornfield at Dyersville, Iowa.
