Thompson set and ready for 2025

MONTICELLO — The Town of Thompson kicked off 2025 with a reorganization meeting on January 7, at Thompson Town Hall. Thompson Town Supervisor William Rieber Jr. began the meeting with a moment of silence honoring former President Jimmy Carter.

Board Appointments Kathleen Lara was named Chairperson of the Planning Board, with Shoshana Mitchell and Christina Cellini appointed as Alternate Members, each serving a term expiring on December 31, 2025. Laura Eppers was appointed as Secretary to the Planning Board.

Additionally, Richard McClernon was reappointed as Chairperson of the Zoning Board of Appeals, with Darren Miller joining as an alternate member for a term expiring December 31, 2025. The appointments also included Dana Heimbach as an alternate member of the Zoning Board of Appeals.

Marilee J. Calhoun was appointed as Town Clerk and Registrar of Vital Statistics. Kelly Murn and Lizette DeJesus will serve as Deputy Town Clerks. Todd Mitchell was named Deputy Highway Superintendent, while Hayden Carnell continues to serve as the Highway Superintendent. Mary Jean Carroll and Tammy Price were appointed as Justice Court Clerks. Heather Berg was confirmed as Receiver of Taxes, and Glenn Summers was reappointed as Superintendent of Parks and Recreation.

The Sullivan County Democrat was designated as the official town newspaper for 2025, with the Times Herald-Record and River Reporter serving as alternates. The board also approved contracts with the Middletown Humane Society and Rock Hill Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
