NEW YORK- It’s been a tough year for Section IX indoor track teams sorely missing those meets at West Point. So it’s not surprising that the number of athletes qualifying for the State Meet at Ocean Breeze on March 5 is few indeed. From Sullivan County, only two punched their tickets to states, both with first place finishes. T-V’s Adam Furman captured the 3200 in 9:21.21 and Monticello’s Taina DeJesus earned gold in the 55 hurdles with a time of 8.92. A bevy of other county athletes vied for spots at states but missed being in the top two out of the Section or a third-place finish coupled with meeting the state standard.
