Two brothers charged with murder in Lumberland

The New York State Police on Friday evening announced the arrest two brothers suspected of murder in the Town of Lumberland.

Jack Carter, 21, and Nick Carter, 26, both face charges of Murder 2nd degree following an investigation into a missing person.

State Police say that on January 15, Mark Eckert, a 74-year old male from Glen Spey was reported missing to the State Police  Barracks in Liberty.  Eckerts body was located on his property on January 19.  Jack and Nick Carter were located and arrested the same day in New Jersey and are incarcerated awaiting extradition back to New York. 

The New York State Police were assisted by the New Jersey State Police, Rockaway Township Police and the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office.
