LIVINGSTON MAROR – The Lady Wildcats are getting into midseason form, as evidenced by their 38-20 victory over Fallsburg on Monday night.

“They pressed very well tonight,” Fallsburg Coach Mike Ballard said of the Lady Wildcats. “We got into foul trouble and they were aggressive defensively. We’ll get to see them again at the College, so we’re excited.”

Livingston Manor started the game off hot, scoring 11 points in the first quarter. Four different Lady Wildcats put up points in the first quarter, with Carlson getting five of her 19. Fallsburg only netted one basket and the score was 11-2 heading into the second quarter.

Fallsburg won the second quarter 6-5, trimming the lead to eight by halftime. Emily Perna, who scored five points for Fallsburg, scored all her points in the second quarter.

Livingston Manor’s adjustments before the start of the second half worked well, because the Lady Wildcats won the third quarter 19-5. Carlson scored eight points and Nevaeha Jones added six. Fallsburg’s leading scorer, Maya Ballard, scored five of her 10 points in the third, trying to keep the Lady Comets in the game.

Entering the fourth quarter, the score was 35-13. Livingston Manor put themselves in a good position to win and backed off on their press.

Fallsburg took advantage, winning the fourth quarter 7-3 and cutting the lead to 18 by the final whistle.

“A big improvement tonight was that we had five girls on the court looking to score,” Lady Wildcats Coach Maggi Fitzpatrick said. “Our defense was solid and I’m happy with the way the momentum is picking up. Things are starting to click.”

The Lady Wildcats lost a non-league matchup against Tri-Valley on Wednesday afternoon, and are scheduled to visit Eldred tonight for a league matchup.
