I'm not done with 2019 yet. I need at least two more weeks. Somehow the year got away from me. Today (Dec. 31st) l had an appointment with a physical therapist but had to cancel because I had arrhythmia. I asked if they had any openings for an appointment tomorrow. She said they are closed tomorrow. Of course they are because it's New Year's Day.

Next I realized I hadn't sent my column in a day early because of the holiday. Sending Christmas cards mostly went by the wayside this year because I'm still dealing with a pinched nerve.

Also decided I wouldn't be doing any cooking for Christmas this year. We would just order from Boston Market on Christmas Eve. The problem with that was they were closed so we got some good meals for take-out from the River Edge Diner. That worked out so well that it would be a good solution for Christmas Day also.

But low and behold the diners that we called were closed that day. But in my freezer I found some salmon steaks and a bag of shrimp that were cleaned and cooked. A quick thaw and some crackers and cheese and hummus and some wine to tide us over worked out well. We had Christmas cookies and Mrs. Smith's pumpkin pie for dessert.

All I have to do now is finish contacting food markets to appeal for donations for refreshments after the yearly commemoration of Martin Luther King's birthday. I've been hitting some bumps with that, dealing with a new printer, but I'm slowly getting those bumps smoothed out.

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone.
