Wallkill woman charged in fatal hit and run

Wurtsboro — State Police announced yesterday that they’ve made an arrest in connection to a fatal hit and run that occured last weekend in the Town of Mamakating.

On September 4 at approximately 10:50 p.m. State Police from the Wurtsboro barracks responded to State Route 209 near Perron Drive for an unresponsive male in the roadway.

An investigation revealed that Raymond Anderson, 51, from the town of Wallkill was struck by a vehicle that left the area.

Anderson was transported to Garnet Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of, Shirley Bowens, 48, from the town of Wallkill.

She was charged with the felony, Leaving the Scene of an Accident which Resulted in Death.

She was arraigned in the Town of Mamakating Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail.
