Wayne Memorial welcomes nurse midwife

HONESDALE, PA — Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) is pleased to announce that Certified Nurse Midwife Amy Borove has joined its staff. As a midwife practicing with The Women’s Health Center, Borove facilitates births at Wayne Memorial Hospital’s New Beginnings Birthing Suites. She will begin holding outpatient office hours in Carbondale at WMCHC’s new office complex at 150 Brooklyn Street in July.

Borove earned a Master of Science degree in Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University. Her undergraduate education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Chamberlain University, an Associate degree in Nursing from Luzerne County Community College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from East Stroudsburg University. Borove graduated with honors from all four institutions.

Borove was most recently employed as an RN at Geisinger CMC in Scranton where she worked for seven years – starting in the Emergency Department then transitioning to become one of the original RNs at the facility’s Childbirth Center. During the pandemic, she worked as a travel nurse at Mainline Health Bryn Mawr’s “busy labor unit” while staying per diem at Geisinger and pursuing her education simultaneously. She spent close to two years as an RN at Moses Taylor Hospital’s Labor and Delivery shortly after nursing school – all these experiences combined led her to a career in midwifery.

“I loved being a labor and delivery nurse,” stated Borove. “I knew I wanted to continue doing more to help women and their families during so many important moments in their lives.”

The WHC accepts most private insurances, Medicare and medical assistance. A sliding-fee scale is offered for those who qualify. To establish as a patient with Amy, call the Center’s Main office at 570-253-3005. Visit www.wmh.org or www.wmchc.net for more information on all our services.
