Each sports season, starting with this past winter, we will be selecting one male and one female athlete whom we have designated as the Most Valuable Players. The athletes we choose deserve that superlative in that their value to their team stands out among many other team M.V.P.’s named by their respective coaches at their school’s award ceremonies.

The words “Most Valuable,” imply not only being of great importance, use or service to one’s team, but also possessing admirable and esteemed characteristics. For this winter, we have chosen Pedro Rodriguez from Monticello boys basketball and Kristina Davis from Livingston Manor girls basketball.

In forthcoming issues of the Sullivan County Democrat, we will also be honoring a most outstanding male and female athlete of the season, as well as our choices for the male and female coaches of the winter.
