Public officials' reaction to the novel coronavirus and then the widespread rioting is something we hope we can live through.

Blue state officials invoked “science” to justify yet another arbitrary set of guidelines as to which businesses could start up again and when.

Even with official reopening many customers will be long reluctant to resume their normal habits thanks to uninterrupted fear-mongering on the part of the television media.

Then we came from a cold war to hot when our cities started burning.

Officials, having shut down commerce due to unblemished ignorance of how markets work, now enabled the torching and looting of thousands of businesses due to the shirking of their most profound responsibility… protecting civil peace.

Can't understand why some public officials then ordered law enforcement to stand down or use a “light touch” with the rioters.

One thing did change markedly between the coronavirus lock-downs and the riot lock-downs and that was the elite wisdom regarding social-distancing. Politicians and health experts rebuked business owners for reopening without official permission, banned funerals and church services of more than 10 people and who had heaped scorn on protesters who had gathered in state capitols to express their economic distress…suddenly became avid cheerleaders for screaming crowds numbering in the thousands who burned and destroyed property.

And there were even politicians who noted that destroying property by burning is “how forests grow.”

One just can't make this stuff up… can't wait for someone to tell us all it was all a bad dream.
