When will Gunther do her part?

To the editor:

I was dismayed to read the recent article regarding Marc Singer’s resignation from SUNY Sullivan.

It is particularly troubling that his decision, in part, was based on the lack of resources and support coming from our State Government.

For the past 20 years, voters in Sullivan County have been told we should re-elect Aileen Gunther to the Assembly because as a Democrat she would be in the Majority and in a position to bring home much-needed resources for local residents.

Assemblywoman Gunther, what impact have you had on the community that has supported you for two decades?  Voters turned out in support of your platform for 10 consecutive election cycles and yet you have still failed to fully fund SUNY Sullivan as required by law.

Sadly, you went to Albany as one of us, but came back as one of them.

Where the State Assembly has failed, Sullivan County has succeeded.

Under my leadership, the County Legislature acted in a bipartisan manner to provide FREE SUNY Sullivan tuition to any student who graduates from one of our school districts.

We are doing our part and it’s long past time Assemblywoman Gunther did hers. She’s a powerful voice of the majority party in Albany and has been for 20 years. When will she raise her voice to fully support Sullivan County and its students?

I have only had positive interactions and impressions of Aileen Gunther. When I notified her via email about an issue at Crystal Lake State Forest, someone from her office responded that day and addressed the concern. She continues to work across party lines and that is clear to the majority of residents that continue to elect her.

You can always get a response from her but where it goes from there is usually a different story.

When you vote for legislation that goes against your own grain, that a sign of 'Time to go'!

Over the 2nd half of her being in office I see her making decisions that are not in tune with us

but in tune with her party.

TERM LIMITS are needed in all ports of gov't.
