GRAHAMSVILLE -- Defense, rebounding and control of the boards were key factors Wednesday night in Grahamsville as the Class D Livingston Manor Wildcats defeated the Class C Tri-Valley Bears in a non-league game, 57-49.

With both teams looking at sectional play, Livingston Manor coach Adam Larson in post game remarks said, “We're rolling now and we played great basketball for three and a half quarters."

Livingston Manor will play Chapel Field in sectional play while Tri-Valley's opponent has not yet been determined.

The Wildcats dominance on the boards proved to be important in the first quarter as Livingston Manor outscored the Bears 17-8 and 17-14 in the second quarter to lead at halftime 34-22.

Livingston Manor junior Case LeRoy led the Wildcats scoring in the first half of play with seven points in the first quarter and eight points in the second quarter off six two pointers and three foul shots.

One of the most outstanding three-point shots ever made on the Tri-Valley court came in the closing seconds of the second quarter with time running out and Livingston Manor senior guard Patrick DiBartolo bringing the ball down court. He launched a three-point shot from before the half-court line that swished the net as the buzzer sounded. It has been estimated using basketball court dimensions (47 feet half court dimensions) that the shot took place over 50 feet from the basket.

The third quarter of play saw Livingston Manor extend their lead to 20 points, 46-26, as they outscored Tri-Valley 12-4.

The Bears made a strong attempt to get back into the game during the final eight minutes of play as they outscored Livingston Manor 23-11 with senior forward Austin Delaney canning four treys and two foul shots for 14 of Tri-Valley's 23 points.

Seniors Delaney, Noah Hendrickson, Ethan Shaver and Sadiq Cosme were all honored in senior recognition night ceremonies prior to the start of the game.

With the win Livingston Manor extended their record to 9-6 overall and 5-0 in league play. Tri-Valley is now 10-6 overall and 2-2 in league competition.

The leading scorer for Livingston Manor was LeRoy with 25 points off 11 deuces and three foul shots. DiBartolo added 15 points off two three pointers, three two pointers and three foul shots.

Delaney led Tri-Valley with 17 points off five three pointers and two foul shots.

Tri-Valley Coach Kevin Delaney in post game remarks said, “We really got killed on the rebounds and our ball movement wasn't there which hurt us in scoring.”

Coach Larson complimented his players on controlling the boards and noted, “Without their center we knew we could control the rebounds and we now have a five game win streak.”
