I enjoyed Mel Smith's remembrances of being a teenager in Liberty (published March 9, 2021)

One correction: He gave credit to Bette Midler for the song “In My Life”.

The song was written by Lennon and McCartney and was on the Beatles 1965 Rubber Soul album.

I've been a Beatles fan since age thirteen in1964.

I never heard a cover version by Midler.

I would like to see more articles like Smith's about growing up in towns in our county in the Democrat.
