Yes, there is bowling technology

The United States Bowling Congress looks at bowling technology to determine what impact it has on the sport.

The examination includes in-depth research by the USBC Equipment Specifications and Certifications team.

As the National Governing Body of the sport, continuous research and discussion are an important part of what we do, “USBC Executive Director Chad Murphy said.

The study examines bowling balls, and the lanes, with research on the absorption rates of coverstocks and how it all affects bowling balls.

Bowlers can obtain more information at BOWL. com/Bowing Technology Study.

Bowling Tip by Mike Luongo

There is a big gap between the league bowler and the professional bowler who gets bigger daily.

Some league bowlers routinely average 225 plus on lane conditions that are engineered by bowling centers who want recreational bowlers to get maximum from their league experience.

When these same league bowlers go to the USBC Nationals each year they are routinely deflated when they have to bowl on a lane condition that requires accuracy and repeatability to yield high scores.

We suggest that tournament bowlers practice on bowling conditions similar to tournament conditions.
