Quilts on Display in March

The Guild has a display at the Sullivan County Government Center.
MONTICELLO - March is National Quilting Month, and the Calico Geese Quilter's Guild has set up two displays of quilts to celebrate. The Guild has a display at the Sullivan County Government Center. Look up! The quilts are hanging in the atrium, viewable from both below and above. In addition to the Government Center, a small display has been installed at the Daniel Pierce Library in Grahamsville. All quilts, at both locations, have been designed and created by members of the local guild, including a lovely traditional quilt at the Library created by our most senior member, Mrs. Connie Stangel, of Neversink.

The guild offers quilts to those in our own community who may need warmth and comfort. Recent recipients of Guild community support include the Sullivan County Veteran's Coalition, Ride2Survive, Boys and Girls Clubs, Catskill Regional Medical Center, Cornell Cooperative Extension, and Head Start. The 2019 selected charity is the Allyson Whitney Foundation”, whose mission is to empower and fight for the interests of young adults with rare cancers.
On March 23 the Guild will hold its annual “Baby Quilt Marathon”, an event held at the Cornell Cooperative Extension in Liberty. At the event, guild members, along with guests and volunteers, will sandwich, quilt, and bind baby quilts to be donated to local children. If past years are any indication, the Guild will produce over fifty quilts at the “marathon”.
