SUNY Sullivan kicks off the holiday season with Craft Fair

By Rebeca C. Rivera - reporter/photographer

Debbie Hendricks' booth contained a plethora of hand-painted, personalized items that ranged from glassware to lanterns to hammers. This year marked Hendrick's 15th year attending the fair, and she came with her granddaughter, Peyton Huebsch (12), a member of Future Farmers of America (FFA), who wrote a children's book to raise money to buy a horse.
Neither rain nor snow deterred people from attending Sunday's 49th Annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Festival event at SUNY Sullivan in Loch Sheldrake.
Dozens of vendors spread out across the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse to sell their crafts and goods, many of which were geared towards the upcoming holiday season. Home-baked goods and raffles also took center-stage during the five-hour festival.
Visitors enjoyed the wide selection of items, which included dress ware, home goods, holiday ornaments, toys, artisanal goods, art, woodwork, and so much more. Many shoppers used this festival to begin their holiday shopping and several left with bags full of unique gifts.
