A day with Dickens in Callicoon

By Nyssa Calkin - reporter/photographer

The Callicoon Business Association held a holiday decoration contest for the businesses in town and announced the winners on Saturday. Jessica Sevigny (left) was presented the ribbon for 1st place for the Callicoon Brewery (pictured inset right), an honor shared with Spruce home goods (pictured inset left). Joe Lentini accepted the ribbon for Peppinos' second place win and Gina Fenton accepted the 3rd place award on behalf of Mike Preis Insurance.
A cold winter rain couldn't stop vendors, business owners, and visitors from checking out this year's Dickens on the Delaware in Callicoon.
Local shopkeepers welcomed customers dressed in victorian clothing. There were extra opportunities to buy locally with holiday markets held in the Western Supper Club and Inn, and Callicoon Marketplace.
Live music was held throughout town accompanied by holiday drink and food specials.
Arts and crafts workshops were held at Wool Worth and kids had their own chance to get creative at the library.
