A Dickensian holiday celebration

By Isabel Braverman - staff writer

By: IsABEL BRAVERMAN | DEMOCRAT
Horse-drawn carriage rides were available for all at Dickens on the Delaware on Saturday in Callicoon.
CALLICOON - A horse-drawn carriage trotted the streets, residents dressed in their finest garb, and carolers sang in the town square. This wasn't 1800's England, but rather Callicoon on a drab and foggy Saturday.
The annual Dickens on the Delaware, organized by the Callicoon Business Association, presented a Victorian winter wonderland as shops and restaurants presented holiday specials and shopkeepers and residents dressed in Victorian costumes.
A large crowd turned out to enjoy the event, and COVID-19 safety protocols were in place.
Lights and festive displays filled the streets as people wandered about supporting local businesses.
There was a performance by Farm Arts Collective, street vendors, horse and buggy rides and more.
