White Sulphur Springs - May 8

May 7, 2020

By Holly Fink - community correspondent

The White Sulphur Springs Sullivan First received grant monies from Sullivan Renaissance recently. The group will be planting and beautifying White Sulphur Springs once again, all the while wearing their masks, gloves and social distancing. It is their dedication through thick and thin that makes our community extremely proud. Now the group is seeking helpers and new ideas. If you would like to participate contact Marian at (845) 796-6486.
Since the onset of the pandemic and the rules for social distancing went into effect it's been more difficult to get the news to share with you.
Events that we look forward to all have been canceled. This year and as you all know by now, all schools and colleges in the State are to remain closed for the rest of the academic year. All students must maintain their school work and daily assignments. Whatever your teachers instruct you to do, your job is to do it, in order to pass or graduate. It is not the time to “slack off”. It's “now or never”.
We all must do our part to protect and be protected from this deadly virus. It's a completely different world now, one that many of us are trying to get use to. All must abide by the rules and laws eg. wearing masks in public, gloves and keeping your distance from others.
There are still many who disregard the law and rules, who have a “they're above the law mentality”. No one is exempt. No group or religious organizations are exempt from the law. I still see many not complying. It's your life and mine that is being jeopardized by some. It's time to report what you see to the authorities to enforce this law and any other restrictions. We all must stand up and let those who violate the laws know it won't be tolerated. With this in mind I wish all to be healthy and safe.
Please, whatever news you would like to share, call or text me at (845) 807-1782.
Until next time: a quote by Dolly Parton, “The way you see it, if you want the rainbow you gotta put up with the rain.”
