January 21

Jan 21, 2014

By Katrina Wingert

It's been awhile since I have written. The holidays arrived, we were busy and then the weeks somehow got away from me and one week turned into another and then another.
So here we are, into the New Year, 2014, and I am back. I hope everyone had a great holiday season and that the New Year brings you all health, wealth and happiness.
Our oldest son Jordan celebrated his 15th birthday on January 4. I find it so difficult to believe that he is 15 and that next year he will most likely be asking us to drive.
Children seem to grow up so fast.
The older I get the faster time seems to pass. Most days I wish for a pause button to freeze the frame and make it last just a little longer. Our baby, Jacob, is 3. Not so much a baby anymore either. He has hit the phase of “I do it myself!” They do not stay little long enough and before we blink they are grown into adults. Come March we will have two teenage boys. Now that should be fun!
It almost felt like spring today. With these warmer temps and just a bit of sunshine this afternoon, I was hit with a longing for spring time and nice weather. We have almost no snow left at all here at our house. The kids were disappointed to see it melting away, but they are also looking forward to nice weather so they can ride their new bikes.
A few weeks ago Imagine Alpacas had some new arrivals. Stop by and see the babies and pick up a warm pair of socks made from alpaca wool. Tell Denise I sent you!
The Towne Gift Shop has reopened and resumed normal business hours. I have heard they have some surprises for their customers coming up in the next few weeks.
Domesticities & The Cutting Garden is featuring chocolate for the month of February.
Need an auto inspection or an oil change? Maybe you're in need of some auto repairs? Give Youngsville Garage a call. Scott provides these services with a friendly attitude and a warm smile.
Who doesn't enjoy a great plate of wings? Youngsville boasts of two localities where you can get some slamming wings. You can enjoy them at The Cabin on Wednesdays and then again on Thursday at The Clair.
CJs Deli has homemade soup every day! They also have daily specials along with their regular menu items. My favorite is their Chicken Parm hero. Occasionally we get breakfast sandwiches from them too. You have to try the egg and sausage wrap!
If you have a business in Youngsville, and want me to mention it in this column please send me the info you want me to include via email. I am also looking for pictures and history or interesting information on Youngsville. If you have any upcoming events that you would like to advertise here, please email them to me as well at starlight07@earthlink.net.
Have a great week everyone!
