Celebrated mountain climber Nimdoma Sherpa on Mt. Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.
WURTSBORO - On Friday, December 11 at 7 p.m. (via Zoom) the Mamakating Library will host Nimdoma Sherpa, the youngest female to climb Mt. Everest when she summited the highest peak in the world in 2008 at the age of 17.
Nimdoma will be speaking about her life growing up in Nepal, becoming a mountain climber, then going on to climb many of the world's highest mountains.
Nimdoma climbed as a member of the First Inclusive Women's Sagarmatha Expedition, an all-female mountaineering team supported by the United Nations World Food Program.

Her success on Mt. Everest was recounted in a children's coloring book titled The Snow Leopard, the Yeti and the Girl Who Climbed Mount Everest, published by the World Food Program to promote the use of school meals to reduce child hunger.
A copy of the coloring book will be available at the library after the presentation for each attendee free of charge. All are welcome.
